Middle Eastern Studies Program Summer Grants

This year the Middle Eastern Studies Program will grant up to 10 awards (in the range of $1,000 each) to Maxwell Ph.D. and M.A. candidates as well as undergraduate students from any discipline to support field research or study abroad in the Middle East during the summer of 2014. The awards can be used to undergo advanced language training, enroll in SU Study Abroad Programs, gather data and increase competiveness of future proposals for funding. The proposals will be evaluated on the basis of (I) originality and significance of the proposed research/study, (II) organization and clarity of the proposal, (III) appropriateness and feasibility of the research/study plan in relation to the student’s background and qualifications, and (IV) cost effectiveness.

Applicants should e-mail their 1-3 page proposals to mes@maxwell.syr.edu. Submission deadline is Feb. 27. A committee made up of MESP faculty will review the applications.
