Whitman School Announces M.B.A. for Veterans Program

Syracuse University will add to its already extensive list of programs in support of military veterans this spring. The M.B.A. for Veterans Program, conducted by the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, is an improvised fast-track M.B.A. in entrepreneurship specially designed for military veterans to build on their education, experience and skills, preparing them for a successful career post-service.

In the post-9/11 environment, many talented young people who entered military service find limited supports when re-entering the civilian community. By 2013, the U.S. veteran population under 40 years of age is expected to grow substantially, and this program will help to ease the transition for service members who wish to move into management education programs.

“I am honored to have this opportunity to serve our veterans. The program will tap into the skills that military veterans already possess: as natural managers and leaders with the benefit of real practical experience. The M.B.A. for Veterans program is designed to celebrate and reward military service and ensure that young leadership talent is not lost during this transition back to civilian life,” says Irma Finocchiaro, director for defense programs at Whitman.

Scheduled to commence on May 29, 2014, the program will focus in entrepreneurship and total 54 credits over a 14-month period. The application deadline is Jan. 15, 2014.
