The art education program at SU is now accepting reservations for its spring 2014 Art Workshops for Young People. The workshops, which are for children ages 5-15, offer a variety of experiences planned in the University’s art education classes.
The spring semester includes nine Saturday workshops that are scheduled to begin on Feb. 1, as well as The Big Show, a culminating exhibition of student work. Two sessions of each workshop are offered: 9:30-10:45 a.m. or 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The children are divided into six age groups, and a variety of art media are used.
The workshop fee is $75 for one child; the fee for each additional child in the same family is $45. The fee includes all art supplies. Some scholarships are available.
The art workshops are taught by undergraduate and graduate students and supervised by the faculty of the art education program, which is housed in both SU’s College of Visual and Performing Arts and School of Education. The spring workshops will be held in rooms 043, 045 and 051 of the Comstock Art Facility, 1075 Comstock Ave.
