Faculty and Staff Invited to Innovation and Opportunities Assessment Forum

Dear Faculty and Staff:
As announced in early October, the University is conducting a full assessment of SU’s academic and administrative operations. This “Innovation and Opportunities Assessment” will focus on how the University can most efficiently and effectively deliver services across both the academic and nonacademic areas. It will also identify opportunities for innovations that further advance our mission, build on our existing strengths, and enhance our overall quality and impact.
The Innovation and Opportunities Assessment, which is being done in partnership with global management firm Bain & Company, followed a recommendation made this past spring by the University Senate Committee on Budget and Fiscal Affairs that the University engage an outside consultancy to evaluate the RCM Budget Model and administrative structures across all parts of the University. At about the same time, Chancellor Cantor and Provost Spina initiated a series of conversations with the schools and colleges on the challenges facing the academic enterprise and how the University might respond. The assessment currently underway combines these two projects.
For maximum effectiveness, this assessment requires input from across all University constituencies. Toward that end, we invite you to attend a forum Thursday, November 21, at 4:30 p.m. in Hendricks Chapel to learn more about the project, including scope, timeline, process, and next steps. Your input is a very important part of this undertaking and will help to ensure that a full and accurate picture emerges from the assessment.
