A new microfilm/fiche scanner is now available for public use on the third floor of Bird Library. Features of the Indus 4601-SL include scan to file, scan to print, email, OCR and automated multipage scan. The scanning station is connected to the network and uses NetID for login, enabling users to send scans via email or print copies from their print quota.
The Indus 4601-SL is an advanced digital scanner that scans microfilm, microfiche, aperture cards, micro opaque cards and jackets. It will also scan color microfilm, 35mm transparencies, and positives, displaying them on the computer screen instantaneously. The high-resolution 14.22 megapixel CCD sensor, high-quality lens and LED illumination produce images that are sharp and crisp. The scan resolution ranges from 75 dpi to 600 dpi. Imaging formats are the most commonly used: TIFF, JPEG, PDF, BMP and PNG. Continuous scanning of a full roll film is a built-in feature in the 4601-SL.
