Veterans Day Events at SU

The annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Nov. 11 at Hendricks Chapel. This year’s ceremony will feature Richard Thompson, chairman of SU’s Board of Trustees and Vietnam veteran. The University Singers and the 198th Army Reserve Band will perform throughout the ceremony. All events are free and open to the campus community.

The day’s events include:

5 a.m. National Roll Call on the steps of Hendricks Chapel. SU will join universities and colleges throughout the U.S. to read the names of more than 6,700 service men and women who have died since 9/11/01. Approximate time: 6 hours.
6 a.m. Warrior Run, Orange Grove on the Quad. Organized by SU College of Law’s V.I.S.I.O.N. program, the SU community is invited to join the ROTC units, local veterans’ organizations, and military installations to run a 2.2 mile Warrior Run. Contact Chris at cjelli01@syr.edu.
11 a.m. Veterans Day Ceremony at Hendricks Chapel. This year’s Veterans Day Ceremony features keynote speaker Richard Thompson, chairman of SU’s Board of Trustees.
Noon Veterans Day Luncheon, Schine Student Center Panasci Lounge. Open to the SU campus community. Seating is limited. Registration required.
Noon-5 p.m. Red Cross Blood Drive, University Place near Crouse Ave. In honor of veterans, the American Red Cross and the Syracuse University Veterans Resource Center are partnering for a blood drive. Visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment to donate.
