The Homecoming Court Selection Committee has announced the 2013 Syracuse University Homecoming Court. This longstanding tradition is just one of many student events, programs and activities that take place during SU’s annual Homecoming event, Orange Central.

Voting for this year’s king and queen started Monday, and closes at noon on Friday, Oct. 4. The winners will be announced on Friday at the Homecoming Pep Rally in Hendricks Chapel. To vote, visit http://homecomingcourt.syr.edu; anyone with an active SU Net ID can vote.

Members of the full court are seniors Jennifer Bacolores, Danielle McCoy, Janine McElhone, Molly Nelson, Ciara Schoenauer, Colin Brown, Michael Emer, Ben Glidden, Jonathan Gregalis and De’Marcus Woods.

Candidates for Queen:

Jennifer Bacolores

Jennifer Bacolores

Jennifer Bacolores

Majors: Accounting and Finance
Hometown: Carson, Calif.

Bio: My name is Jenn Bacolores, and I am an accounting and finance major from Southern California. I am a proud alumna of OrangeSeeds and an ambassador for Student Philanthropy Council. As queen, I would represent the SU family we are—whether it’s a late night in Whitman or a late night at Chuck’s, you always feel the Orange spirit.

Quote: “Orange. It’s not the color that brings us together, but it’s the fact we all bleed it.”

Danielle McCoy

Danielle McCoy

Danielle McCoy

Majors: Political Science and African American Studies
Hometown: Bronx, N.Y.

Bio: Like many students, I came to Syracuse University not quite understanding the meaning of “Scholarship In Action.” As I finish up my last year here, I can truthfully say I’ve come to embody that initiative through my role as an active leader, mentor and educator on campus. My undeniable Orange Pride, bright personality and passion to inspire makes me the best candidate.

Quote: “Once you decide to follow the orange brick road, you are one step closer to success.”

Janine McElhone

Janine McElhone

Janine McElhone

Major: Information Management and Technology
Hometown: Bloomfield, New Jersey

Bio: As the daughter of two SU grads, I was born and raised Orange. I’m the co-music director of Groovestand; I sing the National Anthem in the Dome; I’m a season ticket holder; and I own more SU clothing than I probably should. I’m proud to represent ‘Cuse on a daily basis, and I’d love to be a part of SU tradition as this year’s Homecoming Queen!

Quote: “Orange is more than a color… it’s a way of life!”

Molly Nelson

Molly Nelson

Molly Nelson

Majors: Broadcast and Digital Journalism and Information Management and Technology
Hometown: Charleston, W.Va.

Bio: West Virginia born and raised—but bleeds orange everyday. Tour guide, RA, dining hall worker. CitrusTV and Z89 media member, Orange Pulse dancer, Otto’s Army fanatic. Crazy about sports, movies, music, family and friends. I would love nothing more than to represent Syracuse as your Homecoming Queen.

Quote: “Life’s too short to be anything but happy!”

Ciara Schoenauer

Ciara Schoenauer

Ciara Schoenauer

Majors: Anthropology and Television-Radio-Film
Hometown: Princeton Junction, N.J.

Bio: Throughout my time at Syracuse, I have taken advantage of all the opportunities it has to offer. I am an orientation leader and a member of the Panhellenic Community, was an athlete and have participated in both the Syracuse Study Abroad and the LA Semester programs. However, through it all, I have always been my happiest and best self on the Hill!

Quote: Syracuse University is my happy place!

Candidates for King:

Colin Brown

Colin Brown

Colin Brown

Major: Broadcast and Digital Journalism
Hometown: Annandale, N.J.

Bio: My name is Colin Brown and I’m a senior broadcast journalism major and political science minor. I have been involved on campus as a mentor resident advisor, the public relations director for Student Association and a Remembrance Scholar. I would love to be king because I love SU and appreciate the qualities that make our school better than any others!

Quote: “I’m starring in my own reality show, but there aren’t any cameras.”

Michael Emer

Michael Emer

Michael Emer

Majors: Advertising and English
Hometown: Boonton, N.J.

Bio: Success as a Syracuse University student is measured not by how many organizations you’ve been a part of, but by your commitment and dedication to this campus. Leadership as an orientation leader, camaraderie as a member of Greek Life and creative passion as the creative director for The NewHouse are attributes I pledge my allegiance to as potential Homecoming king.

Quote: “Less intelligent people have done harder things.”

Ben Glidden

Ben Glidden

Ben Glidden

Major: Public Relations
Hometown: Pittsfield, Me.

Bio: I’ve worn orange every single day since coming to Syracuse (over 1,000 days in a row). My friends think I’m crazy, but I’m so proud of being at this University that I want the world to know, I BLEED ORANGE. You’ll often find me going nuts at SU sporting events with my face painted and an orange construction helmet placed proudly on my head.

Quote: “Every day I step foot on this campus I realize how lucky I am to be here.”

Jonathan Gregalis

Jon Gregalis

Jon Gregalis

Majors: Public Relations and Marketing
Hometown: East Longmeadow, Mass.

Bio: Originally from Massachusetts, I am actively involved with the Newhouse School’s advising program and special events, an account manager for Hill Communications and brother of Phi Delta Theta. Previously, I was the co-executive director of OrangeSeeds.

Homecoming is about students, present and past. Let’s celebrate you, Otto, and this perfectly Orange town.

Quote: “Find the potential in every moment.”

De’Marcus Woods

De'Marcus Woods

De’Marcus Woods

Major: Social Work
Hometown: Houston, Texas

Bio: Texas raised and Louisiana grazed, I’m a Southern Gentleman to the core. From empowering misguided youth, to using media as a platform to inspire, I choose to be the change I want to see. My goal is to make SU a more positive, inclusive experience for all of our affiliates—that’s what makes me a good king.

Quote: “When you speak, the Universe catches your words and grants its wishes; speak wisely.”
