Syracuse University faculty and staff were honored for their artistic contributions at the closing reception of the On My Own Time (OMOT) exhibition on May 15 at Hendricks Chapel. Judges from Syracuse University and a panel of professional artists from CNY Arts (formerly the Cultural Resources Council) chose 17 out of 66 pieces of art for special mention. Some 32 SU employees contributed work in a variety of media, including photography, ceramics, drawing and glasswork.

The SU judges singled out these eight pieces:
• “Boulder Dash,” painting, Beth Sotherden
• “Bowl 2”, ceramics, Ray Kowalski
• “I Enjoy Being a Girl” color photography, Alejandro Garcia
• “Linked In”, jewelry, Penelope Singer
• “Multi-box Tray,” ceramics, Julie Hall
• “Pensive”, digital media, David Harris
• “Slinky,” sculpture, James Bradley
• “Winter Window,” fiber art, Mary Kish

Pieces selected by the CNY Arts judges for inclusion in the fall 2013 OMOT exhibition at the Everson Museum of Art are:
• “Amusement Park #1,” color photography, Sarah Pralle
• “Angel’s Morning at Crouse,” glasswork, Marie Luther
• “Linked In”
• “Luncheon Plates,” glasswork, Denise Dowdall
• “Reflecting Spring,” color photography, Joseph Stoll
• “6 Ridges of Anza Borrga,” color photography, Scott Samson
• “Slinky”
• “Tranquility,” ceramics, Ronna Schindler
• “Wanderlust,” painting, Beth Sotherden
• “Winter Window”
• “Woven Shadow Blue Necklace,” jewelry, Julie Hall

Garcia’s color photograph “A Violinist’s Solo” was voted “Best of Show” by visitors to the exhibition.

“On My Own Time” is a creation of CNY Arts (formerly the Cultural Resources Council of Syracuse) and Onondaga County, in cooperation with the Everson Museum of Art. It was developed as a community arts program to bring visibility to the creative skills of people employed in local businesses.
