In support of the campus-wide White Ribbon Campaign, the Syracuse University Library will host a presentation by Vera House representative Raheem Mack on April 17 at 2 p.m. in the Peter Graham Scholarly Commons. The event is free and open to the campus community.
Vera House’s White Ribbon Campaign is led primarily by concerned men who encourage and invite all members of the community—men and women, young and old—to pin on a ribbon and join them in raising awareness and funds to end domestic and sexual violence. This male leadership helps to acknowledge the important contributions men have made to this effort and invites others to take a role.
Presenter Raheem Mack is Men’s Outreach Program Assistant Coordinator at Vera House in Syracuse. He is also active in the Mentor in Violence Prevention (MVP) program, a component of Vera House’s Prevention & Education Program.
Handouts from Vera House, the LGBT Center and other campus outreach programs will be available in conjunction with the presentation. White Ribbons and bracelets will also be available for $1 each through the Library Business Office, located in the lower level of Bird Library.
During the week of April 15 – 19, there will be a display of related library resources in the new books area of the Learning Commons as well as a research guide developed by Library staff for anyone seeking more information about domestic and relationship issues: researchguides.library.syr.edu/WhiteRibbonCampaign.
