Career Services announces first virtual internship fair

keyboardSyracuse University Career Services, within the Division of Student Affairs, will hold its first Virtual Internship Fair on Jan. 30 from 2-5 p.m. SU students of all majors interested in spring and summer internships will be able to participate in the fair and communicate directly with representatives of local organizations via OrangeLink.

By hosting an internship fair through OrangeLink, Career Services can provide students and employers a convenient means to meet through an online chat module.

“The Virtual Internship Fair is very exciting for us because it allows employers who have not participated or have had limited participation to engage our students for local internships,” says Jennifer Pluta, Career Services’ internship coordinator. “Nearly 50 percent of the organizations registered for the fair are new to Career Services’ internship fairs, and many that have not been involved for years have returned.”

Representatives from 70 different organizations in the Central New York area will be present in this digital event and will offer students internship opportunities in the surrounding community. A few of the organizations participating include Eileen Fisher Inc., The Hershey Co., Make-A-Wish Foundation, National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, PEC Inc., Prudential Insurance Co. and Say Yes to Education.

“Ultimately, this digital platform has allowed employers—not only near Syracuse University but throughout the Central New York area—to participate with us in a cost-effective, sustainable and time-saving way,” says Pluta.

The deadline for students to apply for available positions is Jan. 27. Access to OrangeLink is available via students’ MySlice accounts.

For more information about the Virtual Internship Fair, contact Jennifer Pluta at jrpluta@syr.edu or 315-443-3616.
