Syracuse University College of Law has named Michael A. Bottar L’03 to its Board of Advisors. Bottar is a partner with Bottar Leone, PLLC, in Syracuse, N.Y., where his practice is limited to the prosecution and trial of medical malpractice, birth injury, product liability, construction accident, wrongful death and other complex personal injury cases.
“I am honored to join the Board of Advisors, especially at such an exciting time for the College of Law. While many schools are reducing their investment in future lawyers, we are leaping forward with the construction of Dineen Hall,” Bottar says. “This will be a cutting-edge facility that transforms the delivery of legal education at Syracuse, and I know our accomplished faculty stands ready to use every square inch of the new building to teach students about the law and how to practice. I look forward to collaborating with Dean Arterian and the board to guide the college into a new era of excellence.”
Bottar is also an adjunct professor at the College of Law, where he teaches a course on “Law Practice Management.” He also authors the civil practice chapter of the Syracuse Law Review’s Survey of New York Law.
While in law school, Bottar was a member and executive editor of the Syracuse Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. He was inducted into the Order of the Coif, the Order of Barristers and the Justinian Honorary Law Society. Bottar earned a juris doctor from the College of Law in 2003, summa cum laude, and an undergraduate degree in 2000 from Colgate University.
Bottar is currently a member of the board of directors of the Syracuse Law Alumni Association. He is also a member of the board of directors of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Prior to joining Bottar Leone, PLLC, he was a litigation associate with the New York City office of White & Case, LLP, and the Syracuse office of Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC.
