A Time magazine and Carnegie Corporation poll report on higher education notes a recommendation from Syracuse University Chancellor Cantor on public and private colleges and universities sharing services and facilities.

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications presentation by DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg is featured in a USA Today story on the studio and its films.

A Minnesota Public Radio story on college graduates preparing for the job market features a photo of new graduates at the 2012 Syracuse University Commencement.

The passing of former Vice-Chancellor John Prucha is noted in River Falls Journal (Wis.) and Syracuse.com reports.

YNN reported on Remembrance Week events at SU, including Monday’s candlelight vigil and the installation of 35 chairs on the Shaw Quad outside Hendricks Chapel, arranged as they were on board Pan Am Flight 103, as a memorial representing and honoring the victims.

College of Arts and Sciences senior Kayla Rice is featured in a Brattleboro Reformer story about her being a finalist in the nationwide Canon U.S.A. “Project Imagination” contest.

Escapist magazine features the tongue-in-cheek zombie protection kit produced by College of Visual and Performing Arts student and designer Sam Proctor.

FACULTY QUOTES

Daniel McDowell, assistant professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, authored a Christian Science Monitor commentary and video on island disputes between Japan, China and South Korea threatening financial stability in East Asia and the world.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted in a Bloomberg story on tweets spurring viewership and in a Columbus Dispatch (Ohio) report on the reality show featuring the family of Whitney Houston. Thompson is also quoted in a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review story about recent inductees into the Robot Hall of Fame.

Robert McClure, professor of political science and public affairs at the Maxwell School, is quoted in a North Country Public Radio report on young voters using Google for political decisions.

William Smullen, director of the National Security Studies program in the Maxwell School, spoke with YNN on foreign policy ahead of the presidential debate Monday.

Frank Biocca, public communications professor at the Newhouse School and director of the Media Interface and Network Design (M.I.N.D.) Lab, spoke with 9WSYR on evaluating audience response to the presidential debates, as measured with ‘perception analyzer’ devices.

Jeffrey Stonecash, professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, was interviewed for a YNN story on negative campaign ads.
