Disabilities as Ways of Knowing: A Series of Creative Writing Conversations — Anne Finger visits SU

Ms. Anne Finger, renowned author and longstanding disability rights activist, will be visiting the Syracuse University campus this October, to join us in celebrating Disability Awareness Month, and to inaugurate what is hoped to be an annual series of disability-themed reading and writing events.

On Tuesday, October 23rd (Noon to 1 p.m.) and Wednesday, October 24th (11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), two intimate student luncheons with Ms. Finger will be hosted at the Sheraton. Space is extremely limited. Please RSVP to Radell Roberts at 443-4424 or rrober02@syr.edu, by October 15th, and please indicate any dietary restrictions or if accommodations are required.

On October 23rd, from 5:30 to 6:30 (Winifred MacNaughton Hall, room 100, College of Law), Ms. Finger will be reading from a selection of her fiction and creative non-fiction works, followed by a dinner reception and book signing (6:30 to 7:30, same location), for all members of the S.U. community and the general public. While this event is geared specifically to raise and support awareness among undergraduates, *everyone* is welcomed to participate in this exciting set of opportunities.

American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided during both the public presentation of Ms. Finger’s reading, and the reception/book signing. Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) will be provided during the presentation.

Public parking for the October 23rd evening events at MacNaughton Hall will be available in the Irving garage, for a small fee. Those requiring accessible parking will have use of the Q1 lot on a “space available” basis during the evening of the 23rd.
