The Disability Scoop website, WRVO and the Post-Standard reported on the study co-authored by the Burton Blatt Institute’s Meera Adya, which finds people with disabilities remain largely sidelined in American politics. The size of the disability population means it is an important voting bloc and potential swing group.

C-SPAN aired the proceedings of a foreign policy and global leadership panel held in Charlotte, N.C. in which Maxwell School Dean James Steinberg participated.

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law, appeared on MSNBC‘s “Ed Show” discussing taxes and the group of Americans who pay no federal income tax. Also Johnston authored a Reuters column on Atlantic City, the spread of legalized gambling and impacts on state and local governments.

Harriet Brown, associate professor of magazine journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, authored a New York Times article on the obesity paradox, discussing links between obesity, fitness and health.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted in WHYY NewsWorks (Wilmington, Del.) and WBGO (Newark, N.J.) reports on local political campaigns and the greater effectiveness of political ads on TV versus the Internet.

Olesya Vernyi, a second-year College of Law student, commented on incomplete, inaccurate disclosure forms for a Baltimore Sun article about review of the ethics and financial disclosure forms required of Baltimore city officials and employees. Vernyi served as a mayoral fellow for the city’s project auditing the forms.

Michael Wasylenko, senior associate dean at the Maxwell School and professor of economics, commented for a CNY Central report about the U.S. tax system and the portion of Americans who pay no federal income tax.
