Shannon Meehan, Institute for Veterans and Military Families media relations & communications specialist and a 2011 EBV graduate, authored an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times on the crisis of identity that many vets face upon return from war, and transition to the post-service life course.

The Blaze reported on the SU Lava Project—a mix of science, art and education to investigate the physical properties, aesthetics and educational opportunities of creating basaltic lava flows in a controlled, outdoor laboratory environment. The project is organized by the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ Sculpture Program, in collaboration with the Department of Earth Sciences in The College of Arts and Sciences.

The Central New York Business Journal and YNN reported on the grant awarded to SU through the Department of Education’s Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement program. The grant will help provide graduate study opportunities for first-generation college students.

David Robertson, Jr., director of operations research for SU’s Office of Research & Prospect Systems, is featured in the Post-Standard for a song he wrote about the ongoing American military presence in Afghanistan.

The Post-Standard reported on Kola Owolabi, Syracuse University organist and assistant professor of music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, giving two organ recitals on Tuesday and Wednesday at Setnor Auditorium in Crouse College.
