The Near Westside Initiative is mentioned in the U.K.’s Daily Mail. The article reports on The American Institute of Architects’ 2012 Housing Awards to projects at the pinnacle of design, creativity and sustainability. Among the winners are the Near Westside’s “From the Ground Up: Innovative Green Homes,” created through a collaboration of the Syracuse University School of Architecture, Home HeadQuarters Inc. and the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems.

Mediabistro reported on yesterday’s sixth annual Mirror Awards, presented by the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The Huffington Post published the speech delivered by Alberto Ibargüen, president of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, in acceptance of the i-3 award for impact, innovation and influence.

The Post-Standard reported on the Near Westside Initiative receiving a $400,000 ArtPlace grant to renovate the former Sherman’s Restaurant building into live/work space for artists.
