Commencement Weekend 2012 – SU’s 158th and SUNY-ESF’s 115th exercises

In its 158th Commencement, Syracuse University will celebrate the graduation of 5,056 degree candidates on Sunday, May 13, in the Carrier Dome. The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF), in its 115th Commencement exercises, will confer 637 degrees at the ceremony.

Commencement exercises will begin at 9:30 a.m., with class, school and college marshals leading degree candidates into the Carrier Dome.

Sunday Ceremony Viewing Details

Aaron Sorkin, award-winning screenwriter, producer and playwright, and 1983 VPA graduate, will deliver the Commencement address to the 2012 graduates of Syracuse University and SUNY-ESF. Watch the Commencement address by Aaron Sorkin

Members of the public wishing to attend can enter the Dome through Gates A, B, C, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N and P. Seating will be restricted to designated areas in the upper levels of the Dome. Space permitting, free parking is available in parking lots west of the Carrier Dome; University Avenue Garage (accessed by East Adams and Harrison streets; hours 7 a.m.-6 p.m.), with shuttle service available to University Place; Manley Field House, with shuttle bus service to College Place. Handicapped parking is at Manley Field House with shuttles to the Carrier Dome. The ceremony will be webcast live at http://sugrad.syr.edu. The link will be active beginning at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, and viewers will need flash video player to watch the live webcast. Flash player can be downloaded for free at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer.

Additionally, 9WSYR-TV (digital 9.2) will carry the majority of the Commencement ceremony, including Sorkin’s speech, live beginning at 9:30 a.m.

SUArt Galleries will offer free guided tours of the exhibitions and permanent collection on Friday, May 11, and Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and a special SUArt Kids tour will be held on Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m.
