Local artist Joe Glisson will release his final collection of cartoons portraying “sports on the hill” in Syracuse on Tuesday, May 1. Glisson and Syracuse University’s inaugural collegiate chapter of the national organization Women in Sports and Events (WISE) are working together to market and sell copies of his latest and last cartoon retrospective. Glisson will donate a percentage from the sale of each book to WISE-SU to establish a scholarship for young women pursuing a career in sports or events at SU. His latest book will chronologically highlight some of the most memorable moments in SU and national sports history from 1996 to the final game of the 2012 basketball season in the NCAA Men’s Tournament. The foreword for the book is written by Syracuse alumnus and ESPN Monday Night Football commentator Mike Tirico. The book costs $11.95 and will initially be available on Joe Glisson’s website, www.joeglisson.com, and at the Syracuse University Bookstore. Limited copies of his previous two books “Dome Sweet Dome” and “Seems Like Old Times” are also available online.
