A Huffington Post article on the 10 best U.S. veteran employers cited data from the monthly Employment Situation of Veterans, an analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data issued by the Institute for Veterans and Military Families.

BBC News and Sciencecodex reported on the Syracuse University research, published in Nature, that shows noticeable differences in the leaves of native and non-native plant species in the autumn. The research was completed by Jason Fridley, biologist in The College of Arts and Sciences.

Science Daily reported on the memory study by Amy Criss, assistant professor of psychology in SU’s College of Arts and Sciences, that demonstrates how to minimize the effects of output interference as it relates to test takers being less accurate in their responses at the end of a test than in the beginning.

All Africa reported on the comments made by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at the Maxwell School on the importance of promoting democratic values and universal human rights.

The Greater Binghamton Business Journal reported that Syracuse University has signed an incentive proposal and is officially moving forward with the first stages of the transformational New York Energy Regional Innovation Cluster project on the strength of a $3 million grant awarded as part of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s Regional Council initiative.

CBS News and ITV News quote David M. Crane L’80, professor of practice in the College of Law, on the news that Charles Taylor has been found guilty of war crimes. As former Prosecutor for the Special Court for Sierra Leone, Crane indicted Taylor, who is the former Liberian president.

The New York Times quotes Kevin Noble Maillard, associate professor in the College of Law, in a “Room for Debate” forum on family values and the myth of traditional families.

William Ward, professor of practice in the Newhouse School, spoke with American Public Media’s “Marketplace” about Cottonelle’s social media marketing campaign.

Eric Kingson, professor of social work in the Falk College, is quoted in Financial Planning about Medicare and Social Security shortfalls predicted by the 2012 trustees’ reports.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the New York Daily News on Fox Broadcasting’s 25th anniversary.

The Library Journal quotes Jill Hurst-Wahl, assistant professor of practice in the iSchool, on her students embarking upon a semester-long team assignment working with host librarians to create plans for new library services.
