‘Voice of the Hokies’ Bill Roth ’87 to visit SU April 26
Bill Roth ’87, lead play-by-play announcer for Virginia Tech (VT), will visit Syracuse University April 26 as a guest of the student chapter of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He will speak at 7 p.m. in the Halmi Screening Room, 141 Newhouse 3. Follow on Twitter at #NSSARoth.
Roth, an alumnus of the Newhouse School, has worked for VT for more than two decades. He is the lead play-by-play announcer for football and basketball and also hosts a radio show about the VT Hokies.
Roth earned a degree in broadcast journalism from Newhouse. As a student, he was awarded the Robert Costas Scholarship in 1986 and called games for WAER.
