Associated Press and Post-Standard stories about the “Mad Men” television show discuss the idea that Syracuse University alumnus Draper Daniels ’34 may have been the model for the series character Donald Draper.

The Post-Standard and Eagle Newspapers reported on College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) students in communications design, working with the City of Syracuse, researching and presenting recommendations for a revitalization project along the Onondaga Creekwalk. The VPA students’ Design Project Management course is taught by taught by professors Rod Martinez and Bill Padgett. SU juniors Katja Andersson and Taylor Hurewitz are quoted.

Syracuse.com reviewed the Syracuse University Department of Drama production of “Quilters.”

Saturday’s Post-Standard reported on Jeffrey Stanton, associate dean for research and doctoral programs and professor in the School of Information Studies (iSchool), being named a 2012-13 fellow of the American Council on Education (ACE). The article also noted that Chancellor Nancy Cantor has served as an ACE fellow and chair of the ACE board.

The Post-Standard reported on the Maxwell School lecture series “The State of Democracy” event Friday evening featuring Arthur Brooks, former SU professor.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a Los Angeles Times article about popular culture and the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

Anthony Rotolo, assistant professor of practice in the iSchool, is quoted in a Washington Post story about fake Twitter accounts spoofing college presidents.

Don Dutkowsky, professor of economics at the Maxwell School, is quoted in a YNN report on the New York state sales tax exemption on clothing and shoes sales under $110.

Kim Brown, alumni program coordinator in SU Career Services, is featured in a 9WSYR ” Bridge Street” segment with tips on using Twitter content in job hunting, along with Mashable and other social media.

Kheli R. Willetts, assistant professor of African American Studies at The College of Arts and Sciences and executive director of Community Folk Art Center, authored a guest column in Saturday’s Post-Standard on the long term benefits of mentoring and mentorships.

Joanne Lenweaver, director of the Whitman School of Management WISE Women’s Business Center at the South Side Innovation Center, authored a Post-Standard op-ed about the upcoming WISE (Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship) Symposium on Tuesday. Co-sponsored by the Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship at the Whitman School, along with KeyBank, the symposium anticipates more than 1,000 professionals will attend the 10th annual event.
