University concentrates Verizon Directory distribution based on sustainable practices

Tuesday, March 20, 2012, By News Staff

In a continuing effort to reduce paper waste on campus and in support of the University’s Climate Action Plan, the Verizon telephone directories (Super Yellow Pages) will not be delivered in bulk to University buildings or departments. In a practice that was initiated last year, the University will order a smaller set number of directories based on pre-orders from individual departments. These directories consist only of white and yellow pages listings for
businesses, organizations, and government offices. They do not contain white pages residential listings.

Departments wishing to obtain a specific number of Verizon telephone directories are able to order them through the Materials Distribution online ordering system (http://mdoos.syr.edu/) between now and Friday April 6; use stock code CS01-0050 Verizon Telephone Directory. The directories will be available at no cost. Orders will be delivered to departments by Materials Distribution when the directories arrive in June.

With the availability of the Verizon Super Pages online at http://www.superpages.com/ny/syracuse, University departments are encouraged to consider ordering paper directories only for their areas that lack easy Internet access.
