National News Today included data from the Institute for Veterans and Military Families on the unemployment rate for post-9/11 veterans.

Melville House reported on the Little Free Libraries project in Syracuse. The project is a collaboration among the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), the School of Information Studies (iSchool), the Office of Community Engagement and Economic Development and the Near Westside Initiative.

The New American cites data from Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) on the deportation rate in the Obama administration.

The Environmental Finance Center at Syracuse University was noted in an Oneida Daily Dispatch report as a participant in the first Madison County “Shades of Green” expo focusing on smart growth and sustainability.

Joanne Lenweaver, director of the Whitman School of Management WISE Women’s Business Center at the South Side Innovation Center, is featured in the cover story of the March 2012 issue of Syracuse Woman magazine. Lindsay Wickham, event and communications manager for the Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship at the Whitman School, is also featured in the article, which previews the 10th annual Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (WISE) Symposium, to be held April 3 at the Oncenter in Syracuse.

Kim Brown, alumni program coordinator in Syracuse University Career Services, is featured in a 9WSYR “Bridge Street” segment on building a complete and professional profile in LinkedIn.

John Liddy, SU entrepreneur in residence at the Syracuse Technology Garden and director of the Syracuse Student Sandbox program, is recognized in the Post-Standard for his leadership role in the SBA’s Emerging Leaders Initiative for Small Business program.

Sean Kirst’s Post-Standard column highlights the “I Love You Carol” message on the campus water tower and the special meaning it has for organizers of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Research Fund.

FACULTY QUOTES

Foreign Policy Journal published an op-ed by Maxwell School Ph.D. student Abolghasem Bayyenat on the recently released International Atomic Energy Agency report on Iran’s nuclear activities.

Anthony Otero, assistant director for Student Centers and Programming Services, authored a Huffington Post piece on students’ use and adeptness with interactive and mobile technology.

In an Aljazeera News article, Mehrzad Boroujerdi, director of the Middle Eastern Studies Program in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and The College of Arts and Sciences, offers expert opinion on what it takes to run for Iran’s parliament.
