KIVI-TV (Boise, Idaho) reported on Syracuse University being a grant partner with the University of Idaho and other universities to advance sustainable transportation research.

Kueng Caputo and their exhibition at The Warehouse Gallery (spring 2011) were reviewed in the international, bilingual Italian/English magazine DOMUS.

The Kuwait News Agency reported on Douglas Biklen, dean of the School of Education, being named winner of the UNESCO/Amir Jaber al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah Prize to Promote Quality Education for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. Biklen will receive the prize, awarded every two years, on Feb. 29 in a ceremony hosted by the Government of Kuwait.

The Auburn Citizen reported on the passing of Samuel Kennedy III, professor and former chair of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications’ newspaper department.

A 9WSYR “Bridge Street” segment previewed Say Yes Day at the Dome on March 3, where the Say Yes program will be recognized and celebrated at the men’s basketball game against the University of Louisville.

The Post-Standard previewed some of this weekend’s Black History Month events.

The Post-Standard reported on Bruce Smith, professor of English in the College of Arts and Sciences, being named a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.

In a New York Times “Economix” blog, Leonard Burman, the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Professor of Public Affairs at the Maxwell School, co-authored a chart that illustrates tax expenditure provisions in the tax law and the corresponding revenue lost because of these provisions. Burman also authored a Forbes column on President Obama’s corporate tax proposal. He is also referenced on tax reform in a Daily Beast article about tax plans proposed by President Obama and presidential contenders Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.

Hub Brown, associate dean and associate professor of broadcast and digital journalism at the Newhouse School, is quoted in a Washington Post story on Melissa Harris-Perry as host of the new MSNBC cable news program, “The Melissa Harris-Perry Show.”

Jim Watts, professor and chair of the Department of Religion in The College of Arts and Sciences, did a live radio broadcast on Monocle 24‘s “The Briefing” on how to dispose of scriptures in light of the outrage over trashing and burning Qur’ans in Afghanistan.

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law, discussed President Obama’s tax strategy with MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell on “The Last Word.” The Columbia Journalism Review also highlighted Johnston’s recent Reuters column on tax rates being based on adjusted gross income.

All Africa published on op-ed by Horace Campbell, professor of African American Studies and political science in The College of Arts and Sciences, on Pan African traditions in Senegal and West Africa and Senegal’s President Abdoulaye Wade running for a third term.

The Los Angeles Times cited statistics from SU’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) in an article on the number of deportation cases dropping by nearly a third in a quarter.

Jeongmin Ahn, assistant professor in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, was interviewed by MEMS Investor Journal on MEMS-based wireless sensors and how to power them.

Harriet Brown, assistant professor of magazine journalism at the Newhouse School, was interviewed on Teen Talk CNY radio along with Newhouse graduate student Teressa Del Rosso, discussing how media representations can affect a teen’s body image, for the BlogTalkRadio online network.

Roosevelt Wright, professor in the Newhouse School, is quoted in the Post-Standard on Rochester, N.Y. radio personality Bob Lonsberry and his show on Syracuse’s WSYR.

Sarah Pralle, associate professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a 9WSYR report on rising gas prices.

Lynn Levey, legal writing professor at SU College of Law, authored a Post-Standard opinion piece on the student-athlete murder case at the University of Virginia and the need to address dating violence.
