SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The Scribd website featured a Dwell magazine feature about the three residential construction projects from the School of Architecture’s “From the Ground Up: Innovative Green Homes” design competition: Live Work Home, TED and R-House, built in the Near Westside neighborhood. School of Architecture Dean Mark Robbins’ role in initiating the “From the Ground Up” competition is noted in the article.

Advertising students taught in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications by Cookie Caloia, adjunct professor, and Kevin O’Neill, professor of practice, discussed advertising shown during Super Bowl XLVI for a Post-Standard report.

A Sunday Post-Standard story on SU mascots featured Otto and other historical mascots at the University. The story noting Otto’s 30th anniversary and recent redesign quotes Dena Segbers, Spirit Program coordinator and head cheer coach.

FACULTY QUOTES

William Ward, professor of practice in the Newhouse School, is quoted in a Tech News World magazine article about Facebook power-users and trends in Facebook user behaviors, noted in a Pew Research Center study.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted on the passing of “Soul Train” creator Don Cornelius in the Los Angeles Times. Also, Thompson is quoted in an NPR report on the preservation of Graceland and other historic homes, and in a YNN segment on celebrating Super Bowl Sunday as an American holiday.

Kelly Lux, community and relationship manager for the SU School of Information Studies (iSchool), is quoted in a ReadWriteWeb technology news blog about LinkedIn profiles, and authored a CNY Business Exchange column about online sharing of medical information.

Amy Falkner, Newhouse associate dean for academic affairs, and Newhouse professors of practice Kevin O’Neill and William Ward are quoted in a 9WSYR report on the Super Bowl, social media, and advertising and branding.

A CNY Central report on the hacking of the Syracuse Police Department public website and Anonymous hackers quotes Milton Mueller, professor in the iSchool; Anthony Rotolo, assistant professor of practice; and iSchool graduate student David Rosen.

Larry Elin, associate professor in the Newhouse School, authored a Post-Standard op-ed on WikiLeaks and governmental transparency and the history of President Theodore Roosevelt’s secret diplomacy and Japanese imperialism before War World II.
