Job and paid internship opportunities for students with disabilities

The Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) is a recruitment and referral program that connects public and private sector employers nationwide with highly motivated post-secondary students and recent graduates with
disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through paid summer or permanent jobs. In the spring of 2011, more than 500 students and recent graduates were hired for summer and permanent jobs within the federal government and the private sector.

The WRP provides students with disabilities in all fields and levels of study, first year to Ph.D., the opportunity to market their abilities to a wide variety of potential employers across the United States, sharpen their interviewing skills during a required one-on-one meeting with a WRP recruiter, and gain valuable skills, experience and contacts on the job.

The WRP requires student applicants to have an interview with one of its recruiters during an on-campus recruitment visit. The interviews at SU will take place Oct. 26. Interview slots are limited and fill quickly, so students should act quickly to secure a slot.

Candidates register online, complete the online application, submit all necessary paperwork online and participate in a 30-minute interview with a trained recruiter. Candidates must bring a hard copy of their resume to the interview. Arrangements for specific interview times are coordinated through SU Career Services.

The WRP is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy and the U.S. Department of Defense, with support from other federal agencies.
