Chuck Porter, CEO and co-founder of the advertising agency Crispin, Porter & Bogusky (CP+B), will visit Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications on Tuesday, Oct. 18, as a guest of the advertising department’s Eric Mower Advertising Forum. He will speak at 6:30 p.m. in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3. His talk is free and open to the public. Parking is available in SU pay lots.

Porter joined what was then the Crispin Agency in 1988 as creative director and partner after a long career as an award-winning freelance copywriter. The agency was renamed Crispin & Porter and, within three years, it doubled in size and was named one of the top 15 creative shops in the United States.

In addition to his role at CP+B, Porter is chief strategist for MDC Partners, CP+B’s parent company, where he identifies potential acquisitions and serves as a consultant to member agencies.

In 2004, in an unprecedented sweep, CP+B became the world’s most awarded agency, winning the Grand Prix at Cannes, an O’Toole award for overall creative excellence from the American Association of Advertising Agencies, and the grand prizes at the CLIOs, EFFIEs, Kelly’s, OBIES, APG awards and the One Show. The agency has been profiled in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes, Fast Company, Time, Newsweek, Advertising Age, Creativity and Archive. CP+B was recently named “Agency of the Year” by Advertising Age and Creativity Magazine.

Porter is a past co-chairman and current board member of Advertising Week in New York, North America’s pre-eminent communications industry event. He was named one of Inc. magazine’s “Entrepreneurs We Love.”

For more information about his talk, contact Karen Greenfield at (315) 443-2304 or kegreenf@syr.edu.
