A USA Today column by alumnus Craig Wilson mentions his alma mater, and examines how today’s students make their college selections.

The Buffalo News highlighted the Syracuse University Press book “Monumental New York!: A Guide to 30 Iconic Memorials in Upstate New York,” by Chuck D’Imperio.

The Post-Standard profiled Israeli filmmaker Dani Menkin, who will have his documentary “Dolphin Boy” screened-along with several other of his flms-at the Syracuse International Film Festival.

The Post-Standard highlighted the upcoming Hendricks Chapel informance-combination workshop and performance-by the Caravanserai musicians, groups that perform a mystical and spiritual genre of Pakistani music that has spanned centuries.

YNN News reported from the Syracuse University Career Services Career Fair in the Carrier Dome and spoke to students who explained how they are marketing themselves to prospective employers.

FACULTY QUOTES

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted in the BBC on the passing AC Nielsen Jr. Nielson was the head of the ACNielsen company, which analyzed the way Americans watched TV for more than 50 years. Thompson also commented on the passing of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in the San Jose Mercury News.

Anthony Rotolo, assistant professor of practice in the School of Information Studies (iSchool), commented on the passing of Steve Jobs in a CNY Central segment.

Eric Schiff, professor of physics in The College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in Dick Case’s Post-Standard column on the German statues in Schiller Park that were installed on Oct. 15, 1911. They honor Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller.
