Gulf News (U.A.E.) reported on the upcoming joint exhibition, “Reconnecting East and West: Islamic Ornament in 19th-Century Works from the Dahesh Museum of Art and Syracuse University” in June in Dubai.

The Tallahassee Democrat mentions the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) founded at the Whitman School in a feature on the consortium EBV program at Florida State University.

Anthony Rotolo, assistant professor of practice in the iSchool, is mentioned in Publishers Weekly for his Twitter-driven course in information technology.

A WSYR “Bridge Street” (view clip) segment this morning featured Suzanne Thorin, dean of libraries and University librarian, discussing the recent donation by alumnus Ted Koppel, original anchor of the ABC News program “Nightline,” of videotapes and other broadcasting career items to the Syracuse University Library.

FACULTY QUOTES

CNN quotes Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, on media coverage of the Casey Anthony trial. Thompson also participated in the New York Times blog “Room for Debate,” which looked at transgressions committed on digital social media.

Syracuse University alumnus Rami Khouri ’70, G’98, director of the Issam Fares Institute of Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut and editor-at-large of the Beirut-based Daily Star newspaper, is quoted in a Guardian article on political developments following the unrest of the Arab spring.

The Jewish Chronicle published an opinion piece by Menachem Z. Rosensaft, distinguished visiting lecturer at Syracuse University College of Law, on the aging cohort of Holocaust survivors and the family units that act as attesters.

The Sydney Morning Herald (Australia) quotes David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law, on taxes and wealthy Americans.
