Paul Wylde, a freelance brand consultant and former creative director of the Aviation Studio at Teague in Seattle, will give the talk “Design is Dead, Long Live Design” on Wednesday, May 4, at 11 a.m. in The Warehouse Auditorium, first floor, The Warehouse, 350 W. Fayette St., Syracuse. The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Department of Design in Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA).
Wylde’s talk will attempt to define the meaning and contribution of design in today’s society and global economy and how its role has changed over the past 50 years, as illustrated by his own experiences, portfolio and learning.
Wylde is currently establishing his own eponymous consultancy and has three international clients that span the aviation, hospitality and retail sectors. Prior to independent consultancy, he was the first creative director of Teague’s Aviation Studio, where he led a 51-member team in developing future aircraft cabin design strategies for Boeing in addition to brand consultancy for a number of international airlines.
