CNBC reported on the White House recognition of the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV)—a program founded in 2007 at the Whitman School of Management—during the launch of Joining Forces, a new national initiative spearheaded by first lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden to support and honor service members and their families. Mentioned as part of the Joining Forces launch was Walmart and Sam’s Club’s Military Families Promise initiative, through which EBV receives a $1 million grant to the EBV Foundation.

The Ledger-Enquirer (Columbus, Ga.) mentioned the recent keynote address by Aflac CEO and chairman Dan Amos as part of the Whitman School’s eighth annual Whitman Day, in honor of the school’s namesake, Martin J. Whitman ’49.

A Post-Standard article on this year’s local United Way campaign mentioned that Margie Johnson, manager for administration and budget in Syracuse University’s Office of Human Resources, was named campaign volunteer of the year.

The Syracuse New Times and Post-Standard previewed the April 15-16 campus visit and performance by jazz saxophonist David Liebman, supported by the SU Humanities Center in The College of Arts and Sciences, with CNY Jazz Arts Foundation, and SU’s Winnick Hillel Center for Jewish Life, celebrating 15th and 60th anniversaries, respectively. The program includes the world premiere of Bret Zvacek’s suite for soloist and jazz orchestra “If a White Horse From Jerusalem.” The piece and performance grew out of last fall’s Syracuse Symposium, “Conflict: Peace and War.”

The Syracuse New Times reviewed the “The Quadrangular Cloud” exhibition at Syracuse University’s Warehouse Gallery. The installation is the work of Swiss artists Sarah Kueng and Lovis Caputo.

A Post-Standard feature previewed the lecture by Emmy-award winning television writer and producer Danny Zuker. Zuker is an alumnus of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and his lecture is co-sponsored by the television-radio-film program at Newhouse.

YNN News reported on a student-led initiative to eliminate cyber-bullying and bring awareness to its dangers.

The Eagle reported on the School of Architecture’s Spatial ConTXT class project featuring public art and mobile messaging in four downtown locations. Compiled answers to the questions posed by students in the Say Yes to Education program will be displayed by the Urban Video Project at the Everson Museum of Art.
