SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

International and national media organizations, in addition to the Post-Standard reported on the news that Moammar Gadhafi reportedly called for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which killed 35 Syracuse University students returning from study abroad.

The Boston Business Journal mentions the performance of SU’s endowment, as reported annually by the NACUBO-Commonfund Study of Endowments, as part of an article on the endowment of the University of Massachusetts.

The Burton Blatt Institute’s Real JOBS NY, a program for those with psychiatric disabilities, was featured in Schenectady’s Daily Gazette (subscription only).

The Post-Standard briefly reported on the upcoming appearance by DJ act Diplo as part of Hillel’s 60th anniversary.

The Post-Standard highlighted the upcoming SU Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble concert that will feature a world premiere by Daniel S. Godfrey.

Rachael Gazdick, Say Yes Syracuse executive director, was interviewed on WSYR’s Jim Reith Show about state budget cuts and Say Yes funding support. Gazdick also discussed the recent Say Yes Carrier Dome event and the SRC gift.

FACULTY QUOTES

Investor’s Business Daily quoted Sanford Sternlicht, professor emeritus of English in The College of Arts and Sciences, in an article on Rudyard Kipling’s literary reach.

The Post Chronicle (Denville, N.J.) quoted Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, on actor Justin Timberlake as one of the Three Stooges.

A recent Politico piece quoted Walter Broadnax, Distinguished Professor of Public Administration in the Maxwell School, on a possible shutdown of federal agencies.

WBNG-12 (Binghamton) reported that Donald Siegel, professor of earth science in The College of Arts and Sciences, took part in a discussion panel in Cortland addressing natural gas development in New York.

CNY Central (view clip) spoke with Don Dutkowsky, professor of economics at the Maxwell School, about rising food prices.
