SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The Associated Press, WCBS-AM in New York City (listen to audio clip), and Post-Standard reported on the grant from the Dana Foundation to Syracuse University Library to process a new collection of papers donated by the family of the late William Safire.

A St. Paul Pioneer Press article cited a recent report by SU’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) on immigration prosecutions rising under the Obama Administration.

FACULTY QUOTES

Mehrzad Boroujerdi, director of the Middle Eastern Studies Program in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and The College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a Bloomberg article on appeals to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to make “the right decision.”

David Burnham, co-director of SU’s TRAC, spoke with MSNBC about the recent TRAC report that illustrates the difference in federal criminal enforcement under President Obama, from that of the last two years of the Bush Administration.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, commented in the New York Post and WTOP-AM in Washington, D.C. on the social impact of the Super Bowl. He also spoke with YNN News on television technology.

Grant Reeher, professor of political science in the Maxwell School, is quoted in the Chicago Tribune on political conflicts of interest.

Rick Burton, David B. Falk Professor of Sport Management in the College of Human Ecology, is quoted in an Associated Press story about sports marketing and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s reputation and marketability.

Roy Gutterman, associate professor of communications law and journalism at the Newhouse School, spoke about the prevalence of live blogging and Tweeting from courtrooms in a Buffalo News article on the local Muzzammil “Mo” Hassan case.

Kristi Andersen, Chapple Family Professor of Citizenship and Democracy at the Maxwell School, authored an opinion piece for the Sunday Post-Standard, which offered an assessment of Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner’s term up to this point.

Bob Lissit, associate professor at the Newhouse School, authored a Post-Standard op-ed on journalism and Julian Assange, WikiLeaks publisher.

Brian Sheehan, associate professor of advertising at the Newhouse School, is quoted in a YNN News story on marketing and the Super Bowl NFL trademark.
