SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Agence France Presse made note of a Maxwell School South Asia Center presentation by Robert Blake, assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian Affairs in which Blake indicated the Obama administration’s support for India as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and the ending of export restrictions for India’s defense and space industries. The talk was also mentioned in The Economic Times and on web news portals for India and Sri Lanka, Rediff News, the Business Standard and the Colombo Page. Also, the recent WRVO Campbell Conversations broadcast with Grant Reeher, professor of political science in the Maxwell School, interviewed Blake. A podcast is available here.

The Campus Connect training program, developed by Syracuse University’s Counseling Center as a way to address suicide on college campuses, was mentioned in a Huffington Post column.

Today’s Dick Case column in the Post-Standard focuses on the Black History Preservation Project, a community program with the Onondaga Historical Association, SU’s South Side Initiative and The College of Arts and Sciences’ African American Studies Department. One goal of the project is to develop a virtual museum. The column also mentions the Richard Breland photography exhibition, “Black Syracuse and Beyond,” on display in the Panasci Lounge of the Schine Student Center, which centers on the city’s 15th ward from as early as the 1940s.
