SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The Transit Wire, which provides information on state-of-the-art technologies used in the public transportation industry, has a story (second item) about the pilot program GPS bus tracking system being tested by Syracuse University and Centro on the Connective Corridor.

A January 21 Technology and Marketing Law Blog entry reports iSchool Professor Milton Mueller participated in a discussion panel on Internet governance hosted by TechFreedom, a technology policy think tank.

Carrie Mae Weems, artist and lecturer in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, is mentioned in a Watertown Daily Times about National Endowment for the Arts funding for two SUNY Potsdam artists, poet James Allen Hall and composer Gregory Wanamaker. Weems will collaborate with Wanamaker.

Research on the science of love by Stephanie Ortigue, assistant professor of psychology in The College of Arts and Sciences, is featured in a Today’s CNY Woman article. Additionally, Paula Johnson, professor of law in the SU College of Law, and her work are featured in another article. A link to the issue is available here.

FACULTY QUOTES

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, spoke to ESPN‘s “Outside the Line” (watch video clip) about how Twitter and social media are impacting sports coverage. Thompson is also quoted in a Record (Bergen, N.J.) story about the “Skins” MTV series and a Huffington Post article on exorcist movies.

An Innovation Trail report on entrepreneurs with disabilities quotes Gary Shaheen, Burton Blatt Institute senior vice president. The Start-Up NY and Inclusive Entrepreneurship programs are also mentioned, along with the Whitman School of Management’s South Side Innovation Center (SSIC).
