The Saturday announcement of the SRC providing a $5 million community matching gift to Say Yes to Education was covered by the Post-Standard, YNN News, WSYR-TV, WSYR radio, and CNY Central.

Area media coverage of the 26th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and presentation of Unsung Hero Awards at Syracuse University included reports by YNN News and the Post-Standard.

SU Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor and Vice Chancellor and Provost Eric Spina are mentioned in a Post-Standard commentary written by Cornell President David Skorton on technology transfer and converting research activity into local economic growth.

Eric Kingson, professor in the School of Social Work in the College of Human Ecology, is quoted in an AARP Bulletin story on new careers for baby boomers as they redefine retirement.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted on the passing of Jack LaLanne in a New York Times report and WWJ (Detroit) radio segment (listen to audio clip). Thompson also spoke on CBS News and Washington’s WTOP-AM (listen to clip) about Keith Olbermann leaving MSNBC and the ending of the “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” show. Duncan Brown, assistant professor of physics in The College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a WSYR radio report on SU’s new supercomputer project to provide resources for scientists involved with the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO).
