SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

9WSYR’s “Bridge Street” hosted Juli Boeheim and Rachel Gazdick, Say Yes Syracuse executive director, to speak about the plans for the first ever Say Yes to Education Day this Saturday, to raise money for Say Yes Syracuse. Gazdick also spoke on WSYR’s Jim Reith Show, TK99’s Gomez & Dave, and on CNY Central (watch video clip) about Say Yes to Education Day.

An op-ed in today’s Post-Standard looks at the Say Yes Syracuse program in advance of tomorrow’s first ever Say Yes to Education Day. The op-ed is co-authored by Syracuse University Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor; Mary Anne Schmitt-Carey, president of Say Yes to Education; Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney; and Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner.

National Science Foundation funding of SU’s new supercomputer project is reported in TMCnet.com. SU’s Green Data Center on South Campus is also mentioned.

A Franklin Park Herald-Journal roundup of Dominican University news (second item) makes note of the Rubric Assessment of Information Literacy Skills (RAILS) project led by Megan Oakleaf, assistant professor in SU’s School of Information Studies (iSchool). Chicago’s Dominican University Crown Library is one of several libraries around the country participating in the RAILS project.

Mary Karr, Jesse Truesdell Peck Professor of Literature in The College of Arts and Sciences, is mentioned in a Tennessean story about Nashville songwriter Rodney Crowell’s memoir.
