Businessweek reported that an idea submitted by Mariana Lebron, a Whitman School of Management graduate student, was named among the 20 winning entries in the Graduate Management Admission Council contest on ideas to improve management education.

The Oneida Daily Dispatch previewed the upcoming 26th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Syracuse University.

The Syracuse Stage/SU Drama production of the musical “Rent” is featured in a Post-Standard story. Director Anthony Salatino, associate professor of drama in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), was interviewed for the piece. Also, Lauren Unbekant, VPA instructor, wrote a Post-Standard commentary on “Rent” playwright Jonathan Larson.

FACULTY QUOTES

Rick Burton, David B. Falk Professor of Sport Management in the College of Human Ecology, is quoted on implications for Portland Trail Blazers sports fans in an Oregonian article about the federal government’s approval of the cable company Comcast Corp. purchase of NBC Universal.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in an NPR story on “Masterpiece Theatre” and in a Christian Science Monitor article on the Comcast/NBC deal and media consolidation.

Scott Pitnick, biology professor in The College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a Live Science story on the evolution of sperm.

Kelly Brown ’03, associate director of career services in the Newhouse School and a graduate of the school’s public relations program, posted a first blog entry at Syracuse.com as a regular “Career Advice Blogger.”

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law and Whitman School of Management, is quoted in a Messenger Post story on property tax caps in Upstate New York.
