Syracuse University is second most influential college on Twitter
Syracuse University is ranked No. 2 in a listing of “The Most Influential Colleges on Twitter” created by Klout, a company that measures influence on the social web.
SU is classified by Klout as a “celebrity” on Twitter by virtue of its high overall score (64 on Klout’s 1-to-100 scale).
SU’s Twitter account (http://twitter.com/syracuseu) has about 4,400 followers; has posted more than 3,600 tweets; and appears on more than 200 Twitter lists.
“Twitter influence is a revealing metric for colleges,” states Megan Berry of Klout in the company’s online announcement. “The most influential ones must be both tech-savvy enough to have a well-managed Twitter account and have the most influential professors, alums and others engaging with them.”
In compiling influence scores for individuals and organizations, Klout measures 35 variables in three categories: True Reach (an account’s number of active followers), Amplification Score (the account’s number of responses or retweets) and Network Score (how influential is the account’s audience).
According to Klout, the most influential college, with an overall score of 70, is Stanford University. Klout’s top 10:
