SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

9WSYR, CNY Central, (watch video clips) and WRVO reported on today’s commemoration at Syracuse University of the 22nd anniversary of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.

Participation by Micere Githae Mugo, Meredith Professor for Teaching Excellence and professor of African American studies in The College of Arts and Sciences, in a literature festival in Nairobi, Kenya, was noted in a Daily Sun article.

PhysOrg and EcoWorld reported on SU’s partnership with the U.S. National Park Service to study the impact of bison grazing in Yellowstone National Park. Douglas Frank, professor of biology in The College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted.

Statistics from SU’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) are cited in a Huffington Post article about deportations of non-citizens who are legal immigrants with misdemeanors reclassified as aggravated felonies.

The Central New York Business Journal (subscription required) reported on L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science and the Syracuse Biomaterials Institute in the Dec. 10 issue and covered Syracuse University’s collaboration with Impact Technologies in the Dec. 17 issue.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a New York Times story on the changing roles of heroines in pop culture and in a National Journal (Washington, D.C.) article on the celebrity and political aspirations of Donald Trump.

Jeffrey Stonecash, professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a Post-Standard article on redistricting and the U.S. Census Bureau report on shifting populations in the United States.
