An editorial in the  Watertown Daily Times focuses on the assistance being provided by SU and Peter Sala, managing director of the Carrier Dome, to officials in Minneapolis who are dealing with the collapsed Metrodome. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported on the Minneapolis arrival of the replacement panels provided by SU.

Danita Emma, artistic director for Syracuse University’s Summer Dance Intensive, administered by SU’s University College, is featured in the Binghamton Press for her recent experience in Bulgaria teaching master classes at a conservatory in Burgas and the National Ballet.

FACULTY QUOTES

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, spoke with WCBS-AM in New York, and WTOP-AM in Washington, D.C., about Mark Zuckerberg being named Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year.” He is also quoted in the Sydney Morning Herald (Australia) on the “reality” of reality TV.

Laurence Thomas, professor of philosophy and political science in The College of Arts and Sciences and Maxwell School, commented in The Jewish Week on Veronica Page’s new Off-Broadway play, “Prayers for the Ghetto.”

A blog by David Driesen, University Professor in the College of Law, published by Legal Theory Workshop responds to Jonathan Masur and Eric Posner’s “Against Feasibility Analysis.”

Reuters quotes Mehrzad Boroujerdi, director of the Middle Eastern Studies Program in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and The College of Arts and Sciences, on the dismissal of Iran Prime Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law and Whitman School of Management, spoke on Democracy Now about the extension of the Bush-era tax cut for the wealthiest Americans. Johnston also authored a column in Harvard’s Nieman Reports on the integrity of journalistic reporting.

The Post-Standard quoted Donald Siegel, professor of earth science in The College of Arts and Sciences, on the hydofracking moratorium in Otisco, N.Y.
