Regional and local media coverage of Syracuse University Carrier Dome officials assisting with the Minneapolis Metrodome’s recovery from a roof collapse following heavy snows includes broadcast segments by KSTP (Minneapolis), KUSA (Denver), WHEC (Rochester, N.Y.) (watch video clips) and WKTV (Utica, N.Y.). Additionally, a New York Times story on the Metrodome roof collapse mentions the SU Carrier Dome and today’s Post-Standard features SU’s efforts to keep the Carrier Dome roof intact, quoting Peter Sala, managing director of the Carrier Dome.

The Associated Press, Post-Standard and PR Newswire reported that Waleed Abdalati ’86 has been named chief scientist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

SU’s Green Data Center is featured in a TMCnet article on power consumption costs in institutions.

Brenda Wrigley, associate professor and chair of the Department of Public Relations at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in article published by The Street about suggested Bank of America public relations efforts for damage control ahead of any WikiLeaks targeting of the bank. Wrigley cited David Letterman’s recent handling of a blackmail attempt as a successful example.

Brian Sheehan, associate professor of advertising in the Newhouse School, authored an article in Advertising Age on strategies in social media marketing for large and small marketers.

Timothy Davis-Reed ’84, professor of practice in the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ Department of Drama, appeared on 9WSYR’s “Bridge Street” to promote the Syracuse Stage production of “A Christmas Story,” in which Davis-Reed stars as Ralph. A podcast is available here.
