SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Statistics from Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) are cited in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution story about the addition of federal judges to Georgia’s immigration courts and in a Delmarva Daily Times article about asylum approval rates in the Baltimore Immigration Court.

YNN and 9WSYR aired stories on how SU Carrier Dome officials are helping Metrodome officials with the roof collapse at the Minneapolis stadium and what SU does to prevent a Carrier Dome collapse. Peter Sala, managing director of the Carrier Dome, is quoted.

The Post-Standard reported on the philanthropy of the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.

In a story on young professionals volunteering for the Creating Assets, Savings and Hope coalition, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle highlighted Robert Shoemaker, a College of Law student.

The Post-Standard reported briefly that SyracuseCoE will collaborate with CenterState Corporation on attracting energy and environmental businesses to the area.

Newsday, the Riverhead News-Review , Post-Standard, YNN, 9WSYR, and CNY Central reported on the arrest of a former SU football player on burglary and grand larceny charges.

FACULTY QUOTES

An article by David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law and Whitman School of Management, is cited in a Naked Capitalism blog posting on President Obama’s proposed tax cut compromise. Johnston also interviewed with KALW (San Francisco) Public Radio’s Rose Aguilar show about taxes.

Mike Haynie, assistant professor of entrepreneurship in the Whitman School, is quoted in The Street for a story on incentives offered to Google employees.

Len Burman, Daniel Patrick Moynihan Professor of Public Affairs in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, is quoted in a Washington Post article on proposed revisions to the estate tax and in a Rochester Democrat and Chronicle article on Obama’s proposed compromise on Bush-era tax cuts.

Menachem Z. Rosensaft, distinguished visiting lecturer at SU College of Law, authored a Jewish Week commentary about the recently released White House tape recordings of comments between Henry Kissinger and Richard Nixon in 1973 about the emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union.

Larry Kramer, adjunct professor in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is the focus of a MarketWatch story on the changing media landscape and the industry’s once-captive audience.

Eric Kingson, professor of social work in the College of Human Ecology’s School of Social Work, co-authored a commentary in the Centre Daily Times (State College, Pa.) on Social Security.
