SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

An ABC World News Now segment (watch clip) featured SU student Ryan Novak, a Whitman School of Management senior and owner of the Marcellus Chocolate Pizza Company.

The Central New York Business Journal reported briefly on a five-year, $3.4 million National Science Foundation grant to Syracuse University to study recruiting, retention and advancement of women university faculty in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Christopher Kennedy G’88, associate professor of English and director of the M.F.A. Program in creative writing in The College of Arts and Sciences, is featured in a Post-Standard article about two Upstate poets recently awarded National Endowment for the Arts literature fellowships.

The Syracuse Stage presentation of “A Christmas Story” was reviewed in the Syracuse New Times.

SU is mentioned in a Post-Standard story on demolition of the Project Orange steam and electric generation facility in downtown Syracuse.

FACULTY QUOTES

Len Burman, Daniel Patrick Moynihan Professor of Public Affairs in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, appeared on a Fox Business report (watch clip) about the federal debt and taxes on America’s middle class.

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law and the Whitman School, authored a Tax.com column about a Wisconsin court case between S.C. Johnson & Son Inc., and Michael DeGuelle, a tax compliance accountant and former employee. The column details issues of corporate tax compliance and whistleblower protections in the case now before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in Canwest News Service story about the appeal of anti-heroes such as TV serial killer Dexter Morgan.
