The University Hill Corporation is holding its annual meeting on Monday, Dec. 13 at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel and Conference Center, 801 University Ave. Guests for the annual meeting may arrive starting at 11:45 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon.  The program will conclude at approximately 1:30 p.m. We hope you will be able to attend.

The guest and featured speaker will be Dr. Richard Daines, 14th Commissioner of Health for New York State.  Dr. Daines became commissioner in March of 2007.  As commissioner, he heads up one of the nation’s leading public health agencies with a budget of approximately $49 billion.  Dr. Daines has helped shape significant health care reforms that were adopted in the state budget, including increased access to health insurance coverage for the uninsured, greater emphasis on primary and preventive care, quality improvement initiatives and investment in health information technology.  Dr. Daines led the implementation of health care facility restructuring measures mandated by the State Legislature in connection with the Commission on Health Care Facilities in the 21st Century.  He received a Bachelor of History from Utah State University in 1974 and received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1978.  Prior to his appointment of commissioner, he was the president and CEO of St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center from Jan. 1, 2002 until January 2007.  He also served as senior vice president for professional affairs and medical director at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx.

There is a $27.00 charge which covers the expense of the luncheon.  To register, contact Christa Glazier at cglazier@centerstateceo.com.
