SU students, alumni honored in College Photographer of the Year competition

Several students and alumni from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications were honored recently at the 65th annual College Photographer of the Year competition, which included more than 14,000 still images and 230 multimedia projects entered by 670 students from 150 colleges and universities in 12 different countries.

The awardees, all students or alumni of Newhouse’s Multimedia Photography and Design (MPD) program, include:

Sports Feature
·    Silver: Robert Miller, graduate student
·    Award of Excellence: Alexandra Pines, senior
·    Award of Excellence: Matthew Ziegler, senior

Illustration
·    Bronze and Award of Excellence: Benjamin Addonizio, senior

Domestic Picture Story
·    Bronze: Andrew Burton ’10

International Picture Story
·    Silver: Mackenzie Reiss, senior

Documentary
·    Award of Excellence: Juliette Lynch ’10

Sports Portfolio
·    Award of Excellence: Burton

In addition, students and alumni from the Newhouse School’s News21 group won silver in the Large Group Multimedia category for their project, Apart From War. They include:

·    Kelly West, a “long distance fellow”;
