Statistics from Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) are noted in a Las Vegas Review-Journal article about the backlog of cases in Las Vegas Immigration Court.

Local coverage of the Apolo Ohno book signing event at the SU Bookstore included reports by 9WSYR, Your News Now (YNN), CNY Central and WAER.

The Post-Standard reported Saturday on the dedication of the University’s Quadrangle in honor of Chancellor Emeritus Kenneth A. “Buzz” Shaw, renaming the area as the Kenneth A. Shaw Quadrangle.

S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications student Danielle Carrick and College of Visual and Performing Arts alumna Stacy Panova are featured in a Syracuse.com story about their “Northside Heroes” photographs of community members. The art project supported by the Northside Urban Partnership, St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center and Home Headquarters displays the photos on a fence surrounding construction of the St. Joseph’s expansion.

FACULTY QUOTES

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law and Whitman School of Management, was interviewed on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann about the impact of tax cuts on building employment.

Harriet Brown, assistant professor of magazine journalism in the Newhouse School, appeared Friday as a guest on WORT (Madison, Wis.) Radio’s “A Public Affair” show, discussing eating disorders, her new book, “Brave Girl Eating,” and her experiences with family-based treatment for anorexia. A podcast of the show is available here. Brown was also quoted in Milwaukee Magazine’s November issue, talking about regional magazines.

Grant Reeher, professor of political science in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, is quoted in a Wall Street Journal article about the future of Carl Paladino in Republican politics, following his election loss. Reeher also interviewed National Public Radio newsreader Lakshmi Singh on story selection, objectivity, and radio news and the Internet as part of the Campbell Conversations. A podcast is available here.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted about Conan O’Brien TBS return to television in stories on American Public Radio’s Marketplace, AM New York and the Boston Globe.

The Sunday Post-Standard featured a post-election interview and analysis with Robert McClure, Chapple Family Professor of Citizenship and Democracy at the Maxwell School.
