SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The Post-Standard previewed the upcoming performance by the Hawthorne String Quartet, as part of part of SU’s Malmgren Concert Series.

The Post-Standard briefly reported on Saturday being “Dollar Day at the Dome,” as part of the University’s annual United Way campaign.

The Post-Standard profiled the online business “SkillAddiction,” created by SU senior Taylor Louie and recent graduate Ray Williams. The business is part of The Student Sandbox, a collaborative venture between the University and the Syracuse Technology Garden to help young businesses.

The Central New York Business Journal reported on the announcement of the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans’ Families, which will extend the benefits of the current EBV program to family members of recent veterans.

FACULTY QUOTES

Grant Reeher, professor of political science in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, is quoted in the Albany Business Journal on gridlock in the New York State Capitol.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the Toronto Star on television spoilers. He is also quoted in the Scranton Times Tribune on white-pages telephone directories, and in the Christian Science Monitor on the relationship between comedy and election results.

Henry Mullins, professor of earth sciences in The College of Arts and Sciences, is mentioned in the Oakland County (Mich.) Daily Tribune on the effects of a lower average global temperature.

Amanda Nicholson, assistant professor of retail management in the Whitman School of Management, spoke with WSYR-TV about retailers’ use of location-based cell phone apps.

Thomas Dennison, professor of practice in public administration in the Maxwell School, is quoted in the Post-Standard on the announcement that St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center is buying a large private primary practice in Central New York.
