Student Veterans Club to give away poppies to promote Veterans Day event
Syracuse University will celebrate the dedication and service of military veterans on Thursday, Nov. 11, beginning with a ceremony at 11 a.m. in Hendricks Chapel. A reception will follow in the Panasci Lounge, located in the Schine Student Center, where there will be a display paying tribute to current U.S. servicemen and women. Please join us to recognize the students, faculty, staff and alumni who serve(d) in the armed forces. The event is open to the entire campus community. Registration for the luncheon is required and can be made at http://veterans.syr.edu.
The SU Student Veterans Club will be giving away poppies in the lobby of Schine Student Center on Monday, Nov. 8, and Tuesday Nov. 9, to promote the Veterans Day event. The poppy is internationally recognized as a symbol of remembrance because three months after the First World War ended, the trenches in Belgium’s Flanders Fields became overgrown with poppies. Stop by Schine Student Center and pick up a poppy and wear it as a symbol of support for our veterans on Veterans Day.
