The Academic and Intellectual Initiatives Committee of Syracuse University’s Office of Residence Life (ORL) and Syracuse University Library will sponsor the fifth annual Bird After Dark program (formerly called the Library Lock-In) on Friday, Nov. 12, from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. at Bird Library.

During the event, students will compete in teams of two in two rounds to hunt through the library finding answers to contest questions. Registration for the contest is free. The members of the winning team will each receive an Amazon Kindle; the teams placing second and third will also receive prizes.

Raffle tickets will be distributed to all students during the event, and a wide variety of prizes will be offered, including movie tickets, a football autographed by head coach Doug Marrone, gift certificates to Funk ‘n’ Waffles and the Pita Pit, a Syracuse Stage polo shirt, a SU spirit pack and more. The evening will also include food, games and more.

All participants will receive pens, pencils, notebooks and a book about career exploration.

Bird After Dark is aimed at providing a fun weekend activity, and familiarizing students with the services offered at Bird Library, says event organizer MacGarret Becker, assistant director of the Office of Learning Communities.

For more information on Bird After Dark, contact Becker at 443-2560 or mdbeck01@syr.edu.
